Welcome to West Lake Hills
An independent neighborhood in Texas’ beautiful Hill Country
Founded in 1953, West Lake Hills is a gorgeous nature community that covers 2,560 acres. Even though Austin grew and expanded around it, the city has remained autonomous. It is well known for its award-winning public schools and famous high school football team. The private schools and country clubs are also competitive. The neighborhood is surrounded by nature with hilly terrain and a tranquil atmosphere. Although it is only six miles from downtown Austin, this desirable area feels like an oasis.
Many West Lake Hills homes are built on the highest topography in the area, leading to fantastic views of the Texas Hill Country and downtown Austin. Some properties are modest, but many sprawling estates spare no expense. Some housing has historical character, having been built in the 1970s and 1980s, but has also been remodeled into contemporary houses. Estates have generous floor plans and sit on one acre or more of land.
